UV Light Cabinets - The Ruling!

The NSW Department of Health has been reviewing its regulations in terms of skin penetration. This will potentially affect a large number of Nail and Beauty Technicians, Therapists and Salons - particalurly as other states review their own regulations.

SIB10 Beauty Training Package

Service Skills Australia submitted the SIB10 Beauty Training Package to the National Quality Council on Wednesday 18 August 2010. Once a training package is submitted to the National Quality Council the endorsement process takes 21 days, with the endorsement of the SIB10 Beauty Training Package anticipated for early September.

APFA was involved in the development and review of this package, which will supercede the WRB04 Beauty Training Package.

There are some interesting developments with regards to this new training package and the qualifications that it will provide. APFA will shortly analyse and report on some of the issues raised and the effects it may have on the the training of technicians.

Are you covered?

In response to enquiries from APFA members, we sought clarification on the insurance implications for salon owners and technicians, should they be subject of legal action resulting from

1/ Lack of formal training or qualifications

2/ Use of unauthorised suppliers - for example, purchases from eBay

The response was clear, and may have consequences for many nail techs around the country.
